It's strange, and I'm sure due to the fact that I'm not a musician and a complete heathen, but this is probably my least favorite of Coltrane's Atlantic output...

I can, however, understand that (but then, I'm a heathen too).

I find this album to be more expressive of the vast amount of WORK Coltrane put into it and less of his inspiration/Spirit or any other of those less tangible qualities. I still like it a lot though.

'The Avant Garde' is probably my favorite Coltrane Atlantic recording.

Along with...'Ole' and 'Coltrane's Sound'.

Yes, me too. Though Ole is my Atlantic fave by a country mile.

this issue got a good review on audioasylum from a guy who compared it to his original pressing. Next best thing to an original according to him.

Hmmm....I'll have to think about that one. Maybe compare the two this weekend.

But Coltrane's Sound is my favorite.
