So I've recently bought all 3 of these cds. First was At Fillmore and despite the editing, I liked it. Then was It's About That Time, liked that one also. Then Black Beauty; I like it, but I could tell after the first song, it wasn't as good (together maybe?) as the other two, but I don't know why yet. I've read it being about the mix which is possible, but I can tell something's missing. Any theories? Mine is the day it was recorded, April 10, 1970, was the day it was publically announced that The Beatles had broken up. I figure everyone was down except Miles, "Fuck them, motherfuckers! You guys can play way better than those fuckin' mother, motherfuckers!" As you can tell, he was pretty broken up about it.

I just listened to Black Beauty again and, yeah, it's the mix. The bass & drums are too low although the bass is up during things like Willie Nelson. Nevermind.

HEY, CHECK OUT MY NEW AVATAR COURTISY OF AFRICABRASS!!! I'M STILL LAUGHING!!!

Well, first thing is that It's About That Time is much much much better than the other guys simply due to Wayne's presence. That said, I prefer Black Beauty over At Fillmore because it's untouched by Teo's scissors; the editing on Fillmore breaks an already tenuous coherence. I'm also not really into the duelling keyboards.
