alocispepraluger102 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 (edited) I created a test profile in Firefox and so far I've noticed that it's keeping cookies again, I'll keep playing around with it today...hopefully the problem will end up being the old profile was corrupt. Thanks for the suggestion! a couple years ago when i used firefox exclusively, i had great success deleting it, reinstalling, and changing skins. over the period of a few years, this worked really well at least 2 times. those skins(themes) can really get slimy. Niko Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Why not use Opera? http://www.opera.com/discover/browser/ been using opera on one machine and noticed that for some sites (more intricate stuff like booking flights) i had to use ie because the site designers were only prepared for ie, firefox and netscape... otherwise i'd second that recommendations Quote
rostasi Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 In 3.0.8 now. Always worked great for me these past few years. Gave up on Safari way back because it would crash only when I visited here. Quote

alocispepraluger102 Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 after working a few days with opera, it is by far the most perfect browsing experience for me ever. when you tire of the fox, and the chrome, and the IE, or for your mobile experience, this new opera suite is just stunning. i am most pleased by the ease with which it handles flash and it's ease of use. it puzzles me why opera isnt much more prevalent. Chalupa Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 Has anyone tried the add on "Aero Silver Fox Basic"?? It doesn't add/distract anything to the performance AFAICT but I like the shiny buttons! Quote
Chalupa Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 Oh and this probably needs a thread of its own but has anyone tried ...... http://www.ubuntu.com/ Quote
rockefeller center Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 Oh and this probably needs a thread of its own but has anyone tried ...... http://www.ubuntu.com/ I use Ubuntu 8.10 on my desktop (acts as a file, web server and multimedia machine) and Debian on my notebook (Ubuntu is a Debian based GNU/Linux distro). The next stable release of Ubuntu (9.04) will be out next week or so. Quote
Shawn Posted April 18, 2009 Author Report Posted April 18, 2009 Follow up: Since I followed the suggestion of creating a fresh profile for Firefox I have had hardly any issues. It crashed one time on a Google search results page, but aside from that it's working fine again. Quote

I would consider backing up your important files, that 'File System Unstable' error you got a few days ago isn't related to the browser but could be an indication that your harddrive is not healthy, which would cause numerous software anomalies. trane_fanatic Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Firefox has been crashing quite frequently even after updating and I've had to reinstall once after the entire build got corrupted. It lost all the passwords I had saved as the profile was toasted too. Grrr... are there any good browsers left anymore? Firefox has been acting like this on more than one computer I was using and it used to be rock-solid. Quote

Are you sure you aren't infected with a virus ? Quote
