Dan Gould Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 And what the home plate ump takes, he gives back. Must be the idiot who worked the plate for that Angels-Red Sox game, completely oblivious to the bottom of the strike zone. Without a doubt should have been strike three, instead the next pitch goes for a go-ahead double. How sad for the Twins if they can't come back. Quote
ghost of miles Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Absolutely! And Raburn going from goat to hero in the bottom of the 10th... I don't want this game to end. Quote
Dan Gould Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Please let it end. What, you're pissed off that The Office marathon is being preempted? Quote
ghost of miles Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 ...and Minnesota escapes a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the top half of the inning. Quote
Dan Gould Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Leyland should be arrested for Closer Abuse. What is this, four innings by Rodney? While I thought that Verlander might be able to lift the Tigers over the MFY, between the fact that the Twins have been playing well for quite a while and have a better bullpen than the Tigers, I have to hope the Twins win - despite their embarrassing history against the Yankees and lack of any ace starters. Dan Gould Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 And I thought my wish would be the kiss of death. Now there is one more warm "weather" playoff spot. Quote

I couldn't believe that he left Rodney in there either, Dan--he was obviously tiring and going to off-speed pitches much more often. Yeah, the Yanks will have their hands full--Twins are on a 17-4 run and the pump-up from tonight's victory will balance any fatigue they might be feeling. Their sorry regular-season record against NY means nothing at this point. Should be a very good series. Edited October 7, 2009 by ghost of miles Quote
Noj Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Well, that was an epic game. I have to admit I was pulling for the Tigers (wanted them to stave off the brutal choke), but congrats to all the Twinkie fans! Quote
Dan Gould Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 20 hours to first pitch. How long can they possibly spend doing the champagne thing? They need to get the hell out of there or they'll be zombies tomorrow. Quote

Tim McG Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Unbelievable game! Exactly. It looked like nobody wanted to win. Incredibly bad baseball. Detroit shot themselves in the foot. Twinkies won't get past the first round. Ugh. Quote
spinlps Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 I'm late to this thread. I just registered for the World Series ticket lottery after having zero luck with the NLDS / NLCS lottery.... and I'm a (partial) season ticket holder! Ah well - here's the Cards and hoping they can flip the switch like in 2006! Quote
Brad Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Now the Tigers have joined the Chokers Club: Dodgers, Phils,Mets. Welcome boys! Quote
spinlps Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Now the Tigers have joined the Chokers Club: Dodgers, Phils,Mets. Welcome boys! As a Cardinal fan, I would be remiss if I failed to add the '69 Cubs to that list! Quote
Matthew Posted October 7, 2009 Author Report Posted October 7, 2009 Dang! I missed the whole 12 innings! Quote
Dan Gould Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Dang! I missed the whole 12 innings! Don't sweat it, according to Timmy, you missed "incredibly bad" baseball. The friggin' loon. Quote

papsrus Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 What a feast for Twin-Cities sports fans. Vikes-Pack on Monday, then that Twins win Tuesday night. They must be walking on air up there. Virtually everyone says Twins have no shot against the Yankees. ... Never bet on a sure thing. Quote
Tim McG Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Judging by the fact it took the Twinkies 12 innings to beat the fading Tigers...I'd say that's a fair bet. Quote
Dan Gould Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Judging by the fact it took the Twinkies 12 innings to beat the fading Tigers...I'd say that's a fair bet. How the fuck does a single game indicate how a series should turn out? The Twins have won 17 of their last 21. Quote
Dave James Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Yanks are 7-0 against the Twins this year. Up over and out. Quote
