gutrotfrenzy Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Just add water? Gots to be some golden flour there, then. Welcome to the board! Thanks!!! It's nice to be here, since it seems that this is finally a jazz-site that covers the whole spectrum. About that Taylor record, I'm just wondering what have the expenses been on a record that get's the price tag of 110$? I've released LP's with my mates, and the highest fee for manufacturing is 8€ (about 12$) per copy. Double that, and you're selling for 16€, triple it, and it's still only 23€ (34$). This bothers me mainly because I would've really liked to buy that Taylor/Oxley-album, both artists being in my list of favorites. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Well, it's being viewed as a limited-edition art multiple that, while it contains music as part of the experience, is also a "work of art." Some of Oxley's artwork is represented on the cover, which I believe is going to be hand-assembled. Other than that, I don't think working with Cecil or Oxley comes cheap these days... Quote
Swinger Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 Oh how I'd like like to buy that 2-lp set but $110 + shipping is way too much :/ Quote
clifford_thornton Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Ben owns copies the masters to the Tony Oxley RCA-Victor LP, Ichnos. I have heard that he plans to do a deluxe vinyl reissue of that as well. Hopefully the Cecil piece comes out - I have a number earmarked and won't have to pay until it's actually shipped. Wonder when that will be? Quote
clifford_thornton Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 Saw Ben tonight. It's done now, the pressing is correct and physically available. I'm told that the paid-for copies will be mailed out in the next week or two (they're at Ben's house). Quote

There are separate bands on the records, and they seem to be discrete pieces. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted August 7, 2010 Report Posted August 7, 2010 Don't know but will inquire once I get mine. Quote
jeffcrom Posted August 7, 2010 Report Posted August 7, 2010 Does anyone know if it is all one composition? I can just hear Cecil's reply to this: "Whatever that means...." Quote
clifford_thornton Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 (edited) More to the point, does it include a pair of gym socks? Edited August 11, 2010 by clifford_thornton Quote
