freeform83 Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Does anyone know whether or not it would be possible to obtain either of these titles on CD without buying the Mosaic? Is there a source like Downtown Music Gallery (which does not have them) or a place where they can be downloaded on MP3? Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Not that I'm aware of. One or two tracks from each were on "The Art of Larry Young" -- but I believe the only CD issue of either complete session is the Mosaic. I really wish they'd put both these out as Conns -- especially "Contrasts" (cuz of Tyrone Washington, of course). I do have the Mosaic, but would prefer to have Young's entire BN output as single CD's. Quote
AndrewHill Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 I'm with you on that. Contrasts looks very interesting on paper. Quote
Nate Dorward Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 Only one track from Contrasts was on the Art Of.... compilation, "A Minor Affair" (Young/Gladden duo). About 1/3rd of the tracks are first-rate, 1/3rd are OK, & there are a few dogs, mostly the vocals by Althea Young. Mixed bags, but worth hearing. Quote

Shrdlu Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 I much prefer the (four?) sessions he recorded with Elvin. Hey, Okie, I have the later sessions if u need copies. I never play them. Quote
