jazzlovr1990 Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 What do you guys think of Melody Gardot? I really like her smooth and soulful voice. I’m not gonna lie, her song “Who will comfort me” tugs at my heart. Haha. I didn’t really used to be into vocal jazz, but I like this woman. It’s out on itunes right now. http://bit.ly/MelodyGardotSingle What do you guys think? Quote
Free For All Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 The spam is ended but the Melody lingers on. Quote

James Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 What do you guys think? I think that my favorite artist of the moment is tenor player Donny McCaslin. His latest -- "Recommeded Tools" has been in heavy rotation on my turntables for some time now. Quote
.:.impossible Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 (edited) My favorite artist of the moment is Ombak. They have a new release due out in April. Trombone, guitar, bass, drums. Original compositions. I did the artwork. My brother plays the bass. Let me know if you are interested in a copy! Edited March 27, 2009 by .:.impossible Quote

jlhoots Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 I hate to say this, but actually Melody Gardot's 1st CD is pretty good. Quote
John L Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 I hate to say this, but actually Melody Gardot's 1st CD is pretty good. In that case, someone should let the record company know that spam like this has just the opposite of the intended effect on boards like Organissimo. Quote
Van Basten II Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 We already had a thread on her, if you want opinions shill and spam free http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...7&hl=gardot Quote
James Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 I hate to say this, but actually Melody Gardot's 1st CD is pretty good. If the CD is pretty good, why would you hate to say it? Just wonderin'................ Quote
Van Basten II Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Well, she's a bit mainstream à la Norah Jones, so if you're a purist or a bit snobbish, it does not sound cool like saying you enjoy Stockhausen or any stuff that about 30 people in the people in thew whole world are aware of. Quote
JSngry Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Point well taken, but hopefully so is the point that there's undoubtedly more than 30 people in the whole world (literally or figuratively) who know about Stockhausen... Quote
Van Basten II Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 That is why i wrote Stockhausen and any stuff instead of Stockhausen and any other stuff, Stockhausen is relatively well known, although not sure what kind of answers you'd get if you did a vox populi about him at your nearest street corner. I just was too lazy to find an example of "cool "stuff that is really marginal,. Quote
AndrewHill Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Right this moment I'm enjoying ED Thigpin's music. The next moment could be someone else. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 My girlfriend. She sings like Joan La Barbara. Quote
flat5 Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 (edited) Make that 31. I know who Stockhausen was. I give him a 3. He's hard to dance to. Edited March 29, 2009 by flat5 Quote
clifford_thornton Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 The only Stockhausen I listen to is the Aus den Sieben Tagen stuff. Semi-improvised. Quote
