chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 i did not go into a menagerie of topics like we do, i kept a singular message to pass on: FULL DISCLOSURE OF THE TAPES HOUSED IN THE PRESENT-DAY BLUE NOTE ARCHIVES REJECTED TAKES, COMPLETE REJECTED SESSIONS RELEASES OF MONO MIXES OF BLUE NOTE SESSIONS FAMOUS AND NOT-SO-FAMOUS ALIKE..... BE IT ON CD STEREO/MONO DOUBLE UPS, OR SINGULAR VINYL MONO RELEASES Quote
Larry Kart Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 Ane where might one take a look at this? Quote
mikeweil Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 It was e-mailed to subscribers of the Blue Note e-mail newsletter. Some rather typical questionnaire to find out what the recipients like about the newsletter etc. - more aimed at the topic of marketing strategies than the musical content chewy adresses. No room for individual comments, anyway. Quote
mikeweil Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 Just saw there is a link to the survey on the Blue Note website as well. Quote
Niko Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 more discussion of the infamous survey here, including a link http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...c=50202&hl= Quote
Larry Kart Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 Thanks -- I filled it out, FWIW. Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted February 27, 2009 Author Report Posted February 27, 2009 you know when you check OTHER, how theres a little blank space well the survey has multple ones of those... i used them all to lay out the plan for them Blue note needs to: a) disclose more previously unissued material held in its archives b) reissue mono mixes of classic and non-classic albums alike Quote
RDK Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 i did not go into a menagerie of topics like we do, i kept a singular message to pass on: FULL DISCLOSURE OF THE TAPES HOUSED IN THE PRESENT-DAY BLUE NOTE ARCHIVES REJECTED TAKES, COMPLETE REJECTED SESSIONS RELEASES OF MONO MIXES OF BLUE NOTE SESSIONS FAMOUS AND NOT-SO-FAMOUS ALIKE..... BE IT ON CD STEREO/MONO DOUBLE UPS, OR SINGULAR VINYL MONO RELEASES Needless to say, not enough people purchase the "good" stuff let alone would want the "leftovers." Hopefully we might get some of these in some future digital-only reissue program. As for mono mixes, there are few discrete mono mixes and I believe most of those have already been released. After 1959 (or whenever) any monos were merely folded-in stereo recordings. Quote
BeBop Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 If I win lunch with Blue Note management, I'm sending Chewy in my place. Quote
