Niko Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 what i really like about lastfm is that you can search by label... nothing in here for you? http://www.last.fm/label/Vsop+Records/albums http://www.last.fm/label/Uptown+Jazz/albums Thanks, Niko! I can't wait to play the Allen Eager and Pepper Adams from the Uptowns. As for the VSOPs, I own all I want to hear. Pity they missed the Eddie Costa though, which I haven't got and have never heard. The Bob Florence albums that interested me proved to be a disappointment, as there were virtually no tracks for listening. (I guess I remain primarily a purchaser of albums and am using these sites to help me make more informed choices.) is the eddie costa on the second page, second row, second column another one? Quote
GA Russell Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 I "bought" a couple of albums this weekend: yesterday, Cal Tjader's Latin Kick; and today, Charles Tolliver's Emperor March. Quote

Niko Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 a swedish morning (all from lastfm): Lars Gullin - Portrait of my Pals Lars Gullin - Quartet 1952 Bernt Rosengren - Stockholm Dues Lars. . . what a great player . . . I have all the appearances on Dragon, and a few others including Portrait of my Pals. wasn't too impressed with portrait but the 1952 one (which is part of dragon cd 7) was great. Now playing Bernt Rosengren - Notes from Underground those two rosengren albums are fascinating (are these digital only reissues?), stockholm dues has fine trumpet playing from lalle svensson he sounds a bit like kenny dorham but with some "old jazz" quality in his playing (somewhere on the web i read he was initially a trombone player and tried to have some trombone like quality in his trumpet playing - made sense to me) Quote
