Upcoming Mosaic vinyl

I love these live club recordings and the whole audience buzz thing

I also love the crowd/bar noise on the Miles Blackhawk set. Especially that bar blender!

Maybe I should record a couple of hours of bar noise. I can do that right here in Whitehall and probably get releases from all the drunks involved.

Shouldn't be too difficult to overlay this stuff on my master tapes. The digital world is nifty.

Thanks for the news, Hans.

Mosaic has returned to the original three-track tapes and mixed them done to beautiful sounding analog stereo masters, presenting the six sets they played that night as they happened.

I don't have the remastered and expanded CD set. Have the 3-track tapes already been used for that one, and idoes it contain the complete recordings like this new LP set?

No, shouldn't be all that difficult to pull off. Problem though is that unlike the sort of low key background crowd noise we're talking about, I'm not sure the inebriated chorus of 'yo, baby, take it off!' ... 'whaddaya mean it's $50 for a lap dance??' and 'Randy, quick, grab her orbs!!!' that you'll be recording in your local hangout is quite what we had in mind. :D Try it though....let's see?

Orrin Keepnews, who produced the Columbia double CD released in 2000, says it includes everything issuable - he mentions some tracks are incomplete. The credits state it was remixed and transferred from the three-track analog tapes. The two CDs include 148 minutes of music - when Mosaic releases a track list I can compare.

I'd buy it. And with the 12x12 black book to provide the track-by-track annotation details. Awesome ! :D

Ah yes, the Legacy 2-disc notes do mention leaving those out (at least the three epistrophy takes, can't fully recall re sweet and lovely).

Turns out the Monk 4 LP set includes a previously unissued take of Sweet And Lovely as well as three of Epistophy as closing theme.
