O.K. not to hijack the thread or anything but I went looking for this release on amazon.co.uk and had a quick browse at their other recent Evans releases and found this, from the "JazzLips" label, perhaps a first, a double rip off!!!,

the music from this, plus a few more songs from somewhere else;

with the cover/art work from this;

:rolleyes::rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Now back to "Turn Out the Stars", would it turn someone who is indifferent to the Evans Trios into a believer???

I've seen that boot - hilarious! Great session though, but I'd rather look for a used copy than getting the boot!

As for your Evans question: the final Evans trio was quite different, much harder swinging than any of his earlier units, I think (though I am of the opinion that Evans swung, anyway, even in early years). I'm quite sure that any of his trio w/Johnson/La Barbera should convince anyone who's into good piano trio music, at least. I'd say give it a chance. But you might as well want to check out some smaller releases, instead of going for the box directly!
