I always found that one to be very sloppy and much less than the sum of it's parts, I'm sure largely due to lack of rehearsal opportunity. Late Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 Some interesting reissues in September. Very nice to see Herb Geller's Fire In The West out again. My enthusiasm for new Japanese reissues has waned however — I just can't deal with the wall-of-sound approach to remastering. To me, the last batch of TOCJs sounded awful. Some of the loudest CDs I've ever heard. Great music nonetheless. Does anyone here actually have a SHM CD? Super-high material, like "super high me"? Quote

It is a fine live album with his sextet with Charles Lloyd and Joe Zawinul. The style is still similar to the Riversides that preceded it. It was recorded over three nights in July-August 1964 at Shelly's Manne-Hole, so one could hope that more exists in the Capitol vaults than the five tracks that were on the LP. Quote
