chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 A side: oscar moore trio w/ carl perkins on piano, joe comfort/bass B side: George Redman w/ Bobby Gordon, Maury Dell, Don Prell and Herbie Harper (who are dell and prell?) u guys ever see or hear about or hear this lp? just scored it a midnight for .99 cents Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 (edited) Don't have my discog handy but that sounds like a "compilation" rehash of other Tamps LPs (both Oscar Moore and George Redman had LPs of their own on Tampa). But a steal at 99c anyway. Edited February 3, 2009 by Big Beat Steve Quote

Larry Kart Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Maury Dell was a pianist (though the name sounds like it should belong to a standup comic). Don Prell was a bassist, member of the Bud Shank Quartet, IIRC. Quote
Larry Kart Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Prell apparently is still going strong: http://birdbeckett.com/ Also, IIRC, he eventually was a member of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted February 4, 2009 Author Report Posted February 4, 2009 carl perkins is rippin it so far on side 1 Quote
Chalupa Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 Man, I REALLY need to get my eyes checked. At first glance I thought the title of this thread was,"extreme TAMPAX find..." Quote
Stonewall15 Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 If you LP fans care about CDs- the mentioned Tampa TP-16 side B has been reissued on VSOP CD #14/15 (Moods In Jazz and Reflections In Jazz) and side A on VSOP CD #34/22 (The Oscar Moore Quartet). The 2 CDs also have other pieces, if fact #34/22 has 16 pieces with the Great Carl Perkins! Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted February 10, 2009 Author Report Posted February 10, 2009 GOOD FIRST POST STONEWALL! DO U LIKE TAMPA too? BUT CD REISSUES. DO U HAVE A BOB ENDVOLDSEN TARGET? LOL! Quote
Christiern Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 Damn, didn't have my glasses on so I thought you had come across an extreme Tampax! Quote
