Rosco Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 (edited) Just bought the MJQ's Pyramid on CD (and very fine it is). The booklet doesn't give any discographical information. I found the following entry at the notoriously unreliable Jazzdisco site: http://www.jazzdisco.org/atlantic-records/...00-series/#1325 1325 The Modern Jazz Quartet - Pyramid Milt Jackson (vib) John Lewis (p) Percy Heath (b) Connie Kay (d) "Music Inn", Lenox, MA, August 22, 1959 3730 Django same personnel "Music Inn", Lenox, MA, August 25, 1959 3731 Romaine same personnel NYC, December 21, 1959 3978 It Don't Mean A Thing 3979 Pyramid same personnel NYC, January 15, 1960 4054 Vendome 4055 How High The Moon ** also issued on Atlantic SD 1325. According to this, 'Django' and 'Romaine' were recorded at the Music Inn, Lenox and the remaining titles in the studio. However, to my ears, 'Django' and 'Vendome' have the same acoustics, while 'Romaine' sounds like the other studio pieces. Am I correct in thinking 'Vedome' was recorded at Music Inn and 'Romaine' actually comes from a studio session? Edited February 3, 2009 by Rosco Quote
Rosco Posted February 3, 2009 Author Report Posted February 3, 2009 Thanks, John. However, in this instance, I'm afraid I have no faith in the Lord. Digging on the internet has produced suprisingly few results, too. Quote
