JSngry
Oh, it's real alright. http://www.donovan.ie/en/2012/12/donovan-new-release-the-sensual-donovan/ https://soundcloud.com/donovan_official/the-sensual-donovan-new Donovan releases a new un-released set of songs rediscovered in the Archive . It is amazing to find this complete album which I had forgotten I made. It was never released in 1970 when I recorded it with John Phillips ( Mamas & Papas ) in The Factory Recording Studio in Hollywood. The band was essentially The Jazz Crusaders , Joe Sample (keyboards), Wilton Felder (bass) and I think Stix Hooper (drums) but not the regular Crusaders guitarist Larry Carlton. For this session the guitar was David T.Walker. This album was not finished when I found it in the archive, but all the basic tracks were there. Wilton Felder was to add his horns but didn’t, so I completed the album in The Works Studio Dublin with Rod Callan. The horn players I used were Michael Buckley (who co-arranged the horns with me) and Ronan Dooney. The female vocal on Only You and Hotel Lonely was Susanne Bushnell. sidewinder
Truth is stranger than fiction. Next up - Donovan - Live At The Lighthouse MG Well, he did have Harold McNair in his backing band so I guess it's not totally out of character. JSngry
What's so Uhhhh...about this jsngry? It's so damn...angular. And the sailors are maniacally goose-stepping, except for the guy down in the corner who looks like he's about to get a bayonet in the gut while holding a plate behind his back. And there's a midget girl poised to collect a urine sample from the flying goose-stepping sailors in a champagne glass. and the color-geometric combination is, like...this should not be happening, please don't look, you will not like what you see, so I'm all like, "Uhhhh....I agree, so why did you put it on an album cover then"?
