Daniel A
While browsing a Swedish online CD store I noticed several upcoming reissues of old OJC titles from Concord (several of which were recently deleted). They are not advertised on the Concord webpage and I could not find info anywhere else, so I'm posting them here. Release date is given as January 12. jazzbo
That's very interesting. Maybe it's Europe only?
bertrand
They need to reissue the complete Mobley sessions, dammit! Bertrand.
AndrewHill
Hmmm.......they seem to be all Prestige/New Jazz titles, yet that seems an awful lot for an RVG batch
Dave James
Either Concord's marketing department has run out of ideas for repackaging Miles and Coltrane (unlikely) or they have remaining stock of these titles that were part of the sale of the OJC catalog (likely). I can't see there's any way they would be striking a new batch of these sessions. I mean, I love Tatro's Jazz For Moderns, but realistically, what is the sales potential for something like this? Up over and out.
The Magnificent Goldberg
Hmmm.......they seem to be all Prestige/New Jazz titles, yet that seems an awful lot for an RVG batch The Wild Bill Moore at least is Jazzland. So's the Junior Cook. I agree with Dave - they look like leftovers. I guess it's possible that they're ZYX issues that have turned up in the Amigo warehouse. I had a feeling I should be getting the Claire Austin before but (apparently) missed it. Another chance now, maybe. MG
king ubu
I posted another similar thread a year or so ago, with a list culled from jazzecho.de - Universal is the international distributor for Concord/OJC etc, and they have re-printed many of the more common Fantasy reissues, with new order numbers on the spine and the traycard, as well as with a Universal logo replacing the Fantasy info. I have not been able to find any particular method behind these reissues, they include many of the more common or "to be expected" titles (Peterson's Pablos, for instance, and all the Miles discs), but also some by less well-known artists (that yellow/green one by Farmer/Gryce). I guess we just have to take what we get... the good days of CD reissues are gone.
