The Lonesome Road session was recorded 20 Nov 1957 and was never released in the USA .The Japanese released it as TOCJ 1615 but have deleated it from their catalogue. It is the Jimmy Smith Trio recorded in the studio five days after the Small's Paradise Session (Go figure ???) Lonesome Road was recorded again in 1960 with Turrentine and released in 1963. Quote
Dave James Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 Bill - I've got the Smith Lonesome Road CD. Unless you're a completist, I wouldn't put too much effort into finding this. IMO, it isn't a very strong session. As I recall, and I haven't listened to it for quite awhile, the recording quality isn't very good even though it's a Japanese reissue. Up over and out. Quote
