Jason Drake Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 Just received this from David French of Frog Records, for those interested "I have today taken deliery of DGF 45, BESSIE SMITH VOL.6 and DGF 49, CLARENCE WILLIAMS' QRS RECORDINGS VOL.2." so they're ready to go.... Quote
J.A.W. Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 Thanks for posting this, Jason. I'll order the Bessie Smith. By the way, I've edited my Blues and R&B list. Quote
jazzbo Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 And the Clarence Williams stuff is excellent as well. . . Volume One is really fun! Quote
EKE BBB Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 I´ll include the Bessie (and probably the Williams) in my next worldsrecords.com order. Maybe for Christmas? Quote
J.A.W. Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 (edited) Great news: Frog's owner David French told me he's working on Bessie Vol.7 at the moment and he's going to try and get the last two volumes (7 and 8) out before Christmas. He takes direct orders: Frog Records site. Edited October 31, 2003 by J.A.W. Quote

Late Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Is the Williams on Frog generally the "best" way (sonically) to go? I only have one Williams disc (on a non-"legit" label), and would like to change that. Quote
jazzbo Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 You know, the Williams discs on Frog sound great. So do the ones on Collectors Classics. But I also must say the Chronogical (sic) Classics editions are excellent sounding, and a great way to collect the majority of the sides. I have about nine of these, may try to get those I'm missing one day soon. Quote
