Willard Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 (edited) .......It has long been a Philharmonic tradition at the New Year to present a program consisting of the lively and at the same time nostalgic music from the vast repertoire of the Johann Strauss family and its contemporaries. These concerts not only delight the audiences in the Musikverein in Vienna, but also enjoy great international popularity through the world wide television broadcasts, which now reach over 50 countries........ The Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert 2009 will be conducted by Daniel Barenboim. I try to watch every year ..... and every time they find way to melt my heart ... Bluerein Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 I try to avoid it every year with much succes!!!! But to each it's own and I love the Wiener Philharmoniker and most of the conductors who do the new year's concerts, it's just this type of classical music which doesn't do it for me. Quote
