Teasing the Korean
I'll start off with June Christy's bittersweet holiday concept album, "This Time of Year," arranged by Thee Great Pete Rugolo. Hard to find for many years, it was reissued on CD a few years back. Your turn.
jlhoots
MJQ version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. I know that's only one song, but it's the best I could come up with.
Hot Ptah
This mid-1950s vocal album has two notable songs, "Christmas Gift", which was one of the earliest soul music recordings, and "Christmas Tree", which must be heard to believe. It is one of the strangest, most manic recordings of all time, in any genre, in my humble opinion. I marvel at the sheer insanity of "Christmas Tree", in the midst of otherwise rather stodgy vocal numbers.
Hot Ptah
This one isn't too bad, with Dexter Gordon, McCoy Tyner, Arthur Blythe, Heath Brothers, Paquito D'Rivera and Wynton/Branford first quintet, performing uncompromising acoustic jazz. It is more of a jazz album that happens to have Christmas songs as the material.

Stereojack
Kenny Burrell's "Have Yourself a Soulful Little Christmas" is one of my all time favorites. For trad fans, Jim Cullum's "Tis the Season to be Jammin'" is an old favorite as well - don't know if it's ever made it to CD.

A Lark Ascending
Handel : Messiah Bach: Christmas Oratorio Always play these at Xmas. There's some marvellous Xmas folk music - good old gnarled finger in the ear stuff. And I finally tracked down a download of a disc of Swedish Xmas folk music after many rears by a band called Triptyk. I always buy a few Xmas discs each year. This year I've gone for: Ella and Kenny B work for me too. I love Nat King Cole doing Xmas too.
paul secor
A third for John Fahey's Christmas/ holiday recordings. Some favorites of mine: New England Christmastide - Traditional carols and melodies played on uillean pipes, tin whistle, guitar, cello, concertina, mandolin, hurdy-gurdy, etc. Cool Yule - w. Louis Armstrong, Big John Greer, Leo Watson, Babs, Gonzales, et al. Blue Yule w. Eddie C. Campbell, Texas Pete Mayes, Poppa Hop, Jimmy Liggins and his Drops of Joy, et al. The Roches: We Three Kings - probably my all time favorite I got a copy of An Uptown Christmas earlier this year. Looking forward to playing it in a week or two when the time is right. Hot Ptah
Another vote for the John Fahey, and for the Oscar Peterson, which is surprisingly enjoyable. Also, Marcus Roberts' "Prayer for Peace" is an unexpected pleasure. Roberts is not a favorite of mine, but he hits this solo piano holiday album out of the park.
