Christiern Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 (edited) I just learned on the blues board that my good friend of many decades, Odetta, is in the hospital, suffering kidney failure. Many years ago, when I was bedridden at home, Odetta surprised me by showing up with a delicious home-cooked meal. I hope I can do something for her now. I bet she would like to hear from anyone who cares.... catesta Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Chris, your friend sounds like a special lady. Get Well, Ms. Odetta. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 There's a thread about this on the Steve Hoffman board, with an e-mail from some family about her status. (Don't have time to post a link -- I'm due out the door in 5 minutes.) Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Positive healing vibes to The Great Odetta. Quote
six string Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 She just played in San Francisco last month at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. I hope she pulls through. When I saw the thread, over on the right side where it shows who posted last it said Odetta hospitalized Teasing the Korean. I don't mean to make light of her condition but it made me grin. Quote
Christiern Posted December 3, 2008 Author Report Posted December 3, 2008 I have lost a true friend, music has lost a true artist. Here, sadly, is Odetta's obituary. Quote
CJ Shearn Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 RIP. I think she had played around here not that long ago. Many condolensces to her family. Quote
blajay Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 RIP. I saw her this summer, and her performance was moving. It's a sad loss. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 Just seeing this now. She will be missed. Quote
