Free For All Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Hi Guys, Have not been to active on any bulletin boards for awhile. Had some setbacks but am still alive. Of course, the Pistons demise did not help my enthusiasm for posting either. Anybody care fo speculate on "what happened to the Pistons?" Somehow, I can't help thinking Joe D has an overall plan for the Pistons return to the top. Ai will definitely be gone. Yep, that was a great Boston-Chicago series. Denver seems to be emerging as a power?? BruceW :bwallace2: Hi Bruce! Nice to hear from you, you've been missed here. Best wishes for your recovery! Quote
Noj Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) Yes, definitely glad to hear from you, Bruce. From what I understand the Pistons intend to let Rasheed Wallace go. That will give them even more money to work with. Edited May 4, 2009 by Noj Quote
paul secor Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Welcome Back, Bruce!! Missed seeing that Big Ben logo on the Board. Hope that all's well. Yeah - it'll be interesting to see where Joe D. goes with your team next season. He certainly has all the options - free agent(s), trades, and perhaps they'll pick up someone in the draft - don't know where their draft choices are this year. The AI thing was a fiasco. For your sake, I hope Joe has some plans down the road. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) Not sure Ãf this is true I heard Manu Ginobili is gonna star in the next Batman movie as The Penguin and he won't need any make-up Edited May 4, 2009 by Soulstation1 Quote
Big Al Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Man, the Mavs are clawing and scratching and playing harder than I've ever seen 'em play, but I don't think it's gonna be enough, especially since Josh Howard is out. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Mr Big Shot has totally changed the Nuggets They could.be in the NBA Finals Quote
BruceW Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Thanks Guys, good to be back. Denver really beat up the Mavs last night. I have never seen Dirk take so many "awkward shots" even if he is trying to get a foul. Man, he scores but he sure looks bad. Right now, I think Denver could "take" the Lakers in 6. Ne Ne is in great shape for a change and KMart is really to beat up on people. I just plain have to wait to see what is up Joe D's sleeve. Orlando is probably going to take Boston. But now, we have Cleveland, the team which is hungry and ready to fight to the last man for that title. Sorry Paul, it is not a Big Ben, it is a set of vibes Quote
Soulstation1 Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Lakers better show up tonight vs Rockets Quote
paul secor Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Lakers better show up tonight vs Rockets They did. Quote
BruceW Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Did they or did just Kobe show up? He could have used much more help. AND will they lose Kobe and Fish for the next game; Fish for sure, that was a wicked decking he put on Scola. Quote
Noj Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 I don't think they'll suspend Kobe. Fish for sure. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 # 8 / # 24 has been known to throw an elbow or two Ask Manu or Bibby I'm not saying those chumps didn't deserve it He hit those two chumps in the nose and busted them up good I think they threw Artest out for doing the throat slash thing with his hand, but I think he was just saying # 24 hit him in his throat Didn't see the game or hi-lights but saw over on Espn.com that # 24 hit him just above the letters on his jersey Artest talks too much smack to # 24 for someone who ain't done nuttin' in the league Quote

Big Al Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 I'm too pissed to look it up, but I believe it was Sangrey who said that as long as Dirk Nowitzki was a Mav, the Mavs would never go all the way. At the time, I pooh-poohed that, because I believed (and still believe) that hardly anyone puts their ass out on the line like Dirk does. Unfortunately, he is also DUMB AS A FUCKING STUMP! The Mavs are up 105-103 with 21 seconds to go, 17 seconds on the shot-clock. Even someone as dense as me lets the shot-clock run out. Not Dirk. He airs a clunker with SIX seconds to go. That's right, Dirk: give the Nuggets more time to beat you. You took that into consideration before airing that shot, right? RIGHT???? As soon as that shot missed the bucket, I said out loud "That shot just cost the Mavs the game. Thanks, Dirk." Sure enough, with that extra two seconds, Carmelo Anthony drops a beautiful three-pointer (and don't even get me started on the Mavs pathetic attempt to try and foul Anthony before he made that shot. I don't blame the refs for not being stupid) to seal the fate of the Mavs. Nellie-ball rears its ugly head and bites the Mavs in the ass once again. Y'know, you'd think the Mavs would've figured out by now there's a reason why Nellie's team isn't in the playoffs this year! Look, I knew coming in the Mavs were going to lose this series. The sad part is they've been playing some of the toughest basketball they've ever played. But their collective brains have been in another galaxy entirely, and THAT has been the single-most frustrating aspect of this series. OH well, one more game and this season comes to a merciful end. Hopefully, priority number one will be getting rid of Dirk. I don't care how good he is, he is not mentally tough enough to put the nail in the coffin. Not that anyone else is challenging him for that crown, but the expectation with Dirk is so much higher. And then get rid of Jason Kidd. And then we sit back and wait another 20 years for the Mavs to get good enough again. Quote
Chalupa Posted May 10, 2009 Author Report Posted May 10, 2009 Yao Ming broke his foot again. The same one that he broke last year and had the screw put in. Not good. Quote
Noj Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Yao's a tough bastard to run around on a broken foot for the whole 4th quarter. The Rockets sure have a lot of tough luck with this group. Quote
BruceW Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Man, I'm telling you, the Lakers just don't get it. There is NO SWITCH that you can turn on and off. :bwallace2: Quote
paul secor Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 (edited) Man, I'm telling you, the Lakers just don't get it. There is NO SWITCH that you can turn on and off. :bwallace2: It might be something a team can do at times, but you're right - in the end it will catch up with you. And, in the playoffs, as the teams get better, it becomes harder - and eventually impossible - to do. Edited May 11, 2009 by paul secor Quote
Noj Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 The lack of effort on defense in that last loss was puzzling and maddening. They've only played a handful of really bad games all year long, and two of them have been in the playoffs. Totally bewildering. Quote
Patrick Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 (edited) Gotta express some love for the beasts of the East from the North Coast, your Cleveland Cavaliers!!! Caught the first two against ATL at the Q. Sure Atlanta has some injured players, but those were total beatdowns. Just methodical. Maybe single covering LeBron is not such a good idea? Ya think? As expected, a bit tougher in ATL. Sweet dunks tonight from Delonte West and Wally Szcerbiak. Lousy free throw shooting but excellent defense. Josh Smith has gotta be one of the most athletically gifted total knuckleheads out there. Leave him wide open outside the paint and he will shoot (even if the shot clock is not about to expire)...and then the opposition will grab the rebound and head the other way... The defensive strategy on him looked intentional, but remained highly effective throughout the game. He just kept chucking it. Even when the home fans were repeatedly booing his missed outside shots. Some say he needs more seasoning/maturity, but he's been in the Association five seasons now. Eighth straight playoff win by at least 10 points for the Cavs. Now another 5 to 7 days off watching Big Baby and Co. Edited May 12, 2009 by Patrick Quote
Big Al Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 A buddy of mine is a huge Cavs fan, and I'm happy for him! I'm glad the Mavs won tonight, guarateeing them a little dignity from this series. I mean, it's over Wednesday night, but so far the Mavs have played their asses off this series, so cheers for them! Quote
Chalupa Posted May 13, 2009 Author Report Posted May 13, 2009 Question. After Orlando loses to Boston in 6 how long will Stan Van Gundy have a job?? Quote
Soulstation1 Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Mr Big Shot better not make the WCF next year He'll match Magic and crew with 8 straight Conference Finals He should have to start from scratch since he was traded to the Western Conference The Thuggets better trade him to the Clippers today Quote
