Wondering if anyone has this one, and what they think. On paper, the session looks great. Any opportunity to hear more Harold Vick seems a good opportunity.

I haven't heard it but I like Larry Willis' stuff on Steeplechase and elsewhere. I've got, I think about four of his cds and like them all.

I have this on tape and like it a lot. I'll give it a spin on my way to work later. Will get me this CD although it seems to be an expensive affair. Vick plays soprano on the title track. Willis recorded this piece with Blood, Sweat & Tears before, so the label hoped they would sell some copies for his reputation with that band. Nice mixture of hardbop and funk but not the ordinary way, his writing and playing here is much more like the stuff on Hugh Masekela's Blue Thumb double album.

This and the BS&T are not available at the moment, AFAIK.

I'm with Mike on this one. I have the cd and it's a great funky soul jazz session which reminds a little of BS&T as well. The whole series is very good (the first 5 are out now and they continue with 5 more the end of this month).

I guess I wasn't checking the board around November 3rd, and missed these reviews until now. Thanks for posting Mike and Reinier! The session is now in line, on my long list of will-probably-get-this-one-even-though-I-should-stop-spending-for-a-while cd's.
