tonym Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 That Boho' guy Wenceslas was quite 'Good' wasn't he. I like my pizzas the way he did: Deep Pan, crisp & even. Quote
David Williams Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 King Canute: much misunderstood. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted October 28, 2003 Author Report Posted October 28, 2003 Dropping (a long way) down to ones that aren't God, for me it's a toss-up between King James I (of England) [and VI (of Scotland)], who commissioned the final, perfect Bible in English in 1604 (that's why they tried to blow him up that year), and Queen Elizabeth I, whose wise rule saw things settle down in England after a lot of killing and other unrest. A great example of tolerance. Another high scorer would have to be Queen Victoria. You can tell how good she was by the way they always try to put her down - the latest feeble attempt being the superbly produced and acted movie "Mrs Brown". Elizabeth and Victoria were queens, not kings. You are disqualified. Can I offer a special thanks to whoever voted for Charles XI of Sweden. I wanted to vote for him but was told that I'd already voted. Which I hadn't. Quote
maren Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King B.J.King [Also like the song the "King of Pop" wrote about her -- Oh, you mean it wasn't THAT Billie Jean?] ...and "our" Alan King, aka akanalog? Quote

catesta Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 I have to say I'm very surprised King Kong has zero votes. I guess that ass whoopin' he suffered at the hands of Godzilla must have ruined his legacy forever. Quote

AfricaBrass Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 Nobody has a dream? JSngry, thank you... I was just thinking the other day about what might have happened if Dr. King was still around. It might have been a very different country. Quote
AfricaBrass Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 There sure are a lot of Kings out there. You don't see a lot of people going around with the names like Peasant. Quote

BruceH Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 film director King Vidor. tho most critics rip the majority of his films, one stands out head and ruby red slippers above the rest: The Wizard of Oz. Great choice, Jacman!! But I thought Mervyn Le Roy directed The Wizard of Oz... The Crowd, man, The Crowd! Great film. Quote
jacman Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 But I thought Mervyn Le Roy directed The Wizard of Oz... Victor Fleming was the original director, King Vidor finished the last month or so (from what i've read), but i'm not sure why. Mervyn LeRoy was the producer. Quote
JSngry Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 King Heroin - neither my favorite king nor my favorite JB cut. Quote
