A Lark Ascending Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 After a long day wrestling with the history of Sweden I found myself puzzling over this essential question. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted October 28, 2003 Author Report Posted October 28, 2003 Damn! I knew I'd missed one! Quote
Dan Gould Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 SS1 will appreciate this: Jerry "The King" Lawler Quote
jazzbo Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 King Oliver got my vote. Thanks for including him! Quote

Jim R Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Before opening this, I expected the choices to be B.B., Albert, and Freddy. Gotta go with B.B., although at one time they were all pretty much equal for me. Quote
BruceH Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 And of course, there's always Benny Carter, "The King." Quote
AfricaBrass Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Nat King Cole, of course!!! AfricaBrass, your new and improved avatar just about made me spit coffee all over my monitor!! Thanks Uncle Skid! It's my avatar's Halloween costume. Quote
AfricaBrass Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Where do you find all this stuff, Catesta? How about King Tut? You know he's my favorite Honkey. Quote
catesta Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Everybody's favorite King, I'm sure. Quote
BeBop Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 In my book, nothing better than Wardell Gray playing "The King" with the Basie band (or Octet). Quote
Shrdlu Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Jesus Christ, the King of Kings, of course - also not listed. Dropping (a long way) down to ones that aren't God, for me it's a toss-up between King James I (of England) [and VI (of Scotland)], who commissioned the final, perfect Bible in English in 1604 (that's why they tried to blow him up that year), and Queen Elizabeth I, whose wise rule saw things settle down in England after a lot of killing and other unrest. A great example of tolerance. Another high scorer would have to be Queen Victoria. You can tell how good she was by the way they always try to put her down - the latest feeble attempt being the superbly produced and acted movie "Mrs Brown". Quote
AfricaBrass Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Jesus Christ, the King of Kings Oof! I should have said that. The sound you hear is me kicking myself. Quote
jacman Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 (edited) film director King Vidor. tho most critics rip the majority of his films, one stands out head and ruby red slippers above the rest: The Wizard of Oz. Edited October 28, 2003 by jacman Quote
