Tom 1960 Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 Not sure if this was the appropriate section to post this topic, but what the heck? I came across this DVD while browsing on Amazon and seemed like a good one. I'm really interested in that whole scene at the Lighthouse and thought it might be interesting to hear from those who played there during it's heyday. Anyone own this? Your thoughts are appreciated. This DVD is a work of love by a friend of mine Dr. Ken Koenig. Ken spent a number of years interviewing numerous people about the jazz history and scene at The Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach, CA The DVD has some terrific visuals and music along with the interviews and discussion. An extra is a lengthy interview with Howard Rumsey the major force behind The Lighthouse becoming a major jazz location in California. I definitely recommend this DVD to anyone interested in West Coast Jazz and the importance of the Lighthouse to that music. A large number of great musicians played at The Lighthouse Quote

jaybreezie Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Just a few off the top of the head... I'm no doubt missing dozens. This might be kind of a fun little micro-genre to collect for some folks. Not to hijack the thread but does anybody smarter than me know if there's a similar DVD project for the old Keystone Korner in San Francsico? Quote
