CJ Shearn Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 saw a youtube vid from Mosaic on the Woody Shaw homepage, are they reissuing this as a Mosaic single? Quote
J.A.W. Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 Why don't you ask them: info@mosaicrecords.com Quote
sidewinder Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 (edited) That's a great little interview. It would be great if Mosaic are planning on reissuing 'Iron Men', although 32 Jazz did include it on one of their compilations (I think it was 'Two More Pieces Of The Puzzle' - paired with 'The Woody Shaw Concert Ensemble', an equally brilliant performance). Maybe some bonus tracks this time? Nice to hear Mr Braxton speak with such affection about Woody. Edited October 11, 2008 by sidewinder Quote

And the second best was the other Woody twofer with 'Cassandranite' and 'Love Dance'. Quote
king ubu Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 Hm, that Cobblestone Stitt twofer might by my first or second choice... also some Kirk - all those "ugliest cover threads" dedicated to 32 Jazz notwithstanding, that label's missed here! They did I a great service to Woody Shaw! Quote
Bluerein Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 I'm afraid the Mosaic Singles line is not making (enough) money to continue this so don't expect (much) more issues. Quote
David Ayers Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 I'm afraid the Mosaic Singles line is not making (enough) money to continue this so don't expect (much) more issues. You mean no more Mosaic singles or just no Iron Men? Quote
ghost of miles Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 I'm afraid the Mosaic Singles line is not making (enough) money to continue this so don't expect (much) more issues. Sad news if that proves to be the case. I think I've bought all but 1-2 of the titles they've released so far. Quote
king ubu Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 Wow, that's sad news! But I'd urge them to try a bit longer... I think I'm not the only one who takes a while to coming around to actually buy the Mosaic releases I want. I have only bought one Single last year (the Lee Wiley, plus the Tolliver, but that's not a real Single, is it?), but now I've started getting some more. As with the Selects, there's hardly one that I feel I don't want to get eventually, but it just takes a while to actually buy those. Like with the big boxes, where I'm mainly on a "buy when hits running low list" policy... The point I want to make is: it might just take a few years until people start buying stuff. (With some exceptions I assume, appealing sets like Ellington, or obviously the Eldridge, that come and go faster than most.) Quote
