ValerieB Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 Our beloved George is recovering from his second kidney transplant which he had the day before yesterday. please keep him in your thoughts and prayers! Quote
GA Russell Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 Will do! I heard a George Cables electric piano track the day before yesterday on Sirius's Jazz Cafe channel, which is a mix of contemporary jazz (sometimes pretty good) and smooth jazz (often lousy). Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 (edited) Anybody know where we can send cards?? A couple dozen from some fans might brighten his day. Edited October 4, 2008 by Rooster_Ties Quote
bertrand Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 I saw George in August at the Iridium at the Lee Morgan tribute . He looked great, but told me he would need a new transplant soon. Didn't know it would be this soon. He was supposed to play with the Cookers this Sunday in Baltimore. I wonder who will sub for him. I hope he makes a speedy recovery. Bertrand. Quote
david weiss Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 (edited) Hopefully George will recover as well as he did last time and that this will be the last time he has to go through this. Kirk Lightsey subbed for George on our recent tour in Germany and Stanley Cowell will be with us in Baltimore. Hopefully George will be back with us soon. You can probably contact him through his web-site www.georgecables.com Edited October 4, 2008 by david weiss Quote

blajay Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 He plays so well on the Dexter Gordon Mosaic Select I'm listening to right now. Wish I were in SF at the time to be there! Any updates on his recovery? Quote
