Popkin Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 The "50th anniversary collector's edition" of Kind of Blue is supposed to be out now. Has anyone seen it or picked it up? There's some info on various websites (e.g. http://music.barnesandnoble.com/Kind-of-Bl...0-43179-500000). But I can't really determine if I own all the tracks on the second disc. Is it true, as the description on B&N claims, that the recordings of "On Green Dolphin Street," "Fran-Dance," "Stella By Starlight," "Love For Sale" are only available in the Davis and Coltrane boxed set (The Complete Columbia Recordings 1955-1961)? Because that sounds like the stuff that was included on the "58 sessions" disc that I already have. Quote
Parkertown Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Sure, because '58 Sessions is now very OOP... BTW, welcome to the forums. Quote
Aggie87 Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Some prior discussion of this set in this thread. Quote
Daniel A Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 (edited) A curiosity: On the '58 Sessions' the wrong take of "Stella" was mistakenly included. The original Jazz Track album (as well as the box set) has a different composite take. Edited October 2, 2008 by Daniel A Quote
Parkertown Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Is that the same take on the Japanese only "1958 Miles" with the weird cover? Quote
