JSngry Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Anything in any way notable ,or just another singer? As always, thanks in advance. Quote
kh1958 Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 I have one Billy Poole CD--Confessin' the Blues, a Riverside OJC. I thought she was pretty good, a nice record--she sounds, at least on Confessin' the Blues, more like an r and b singer than a jazz singer. I would probably buy another recording by her if I found one. Quote

Christiern Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 It has been years (make that, decades) since I heard Billie Poole. Her singing was not memorable, so I can't tell you anything about it. Quote
Hot Ptah Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 I have "Confessin' The Blues." I think that she is an enjoyable singer. She reminds me of Irma Thomas at times, only jazzier. That's meant as a compliment. She is not a major innovator, but an appealing stylist. Quote
felser Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Just Another Singer to my ears. I've heard 'Confessin The Blues' in the past couple of years. The great underrated singer of the era to me was Lorez Alexandria. Quote
