spinlps Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 Wow. Don't tell Euclid about your spots... Hehehe... Found the Dorham in Atlanta, the Dolphy in Springfield. Funny story about the Dolphy, I took the record to the counter and watched the owner stare at the tag, then inspect the cover and record. I fully expected him to shelve the sale but he said something along the lines of "looks like _____ (prolly pricing guy) left off a zero. Not your fault, $40 it is." Quote
clifford_thornton Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 Haha, classic. That's happened to me before, more along the lines of "oops, this isn't a reissue - okay, well, our fault." Quote
Pete B Posted October 15, 2014 Report Posted October 15, 2014 Just got home from Princeton Record Exchange. I found the entire 49 lp run of the Duke Ellington DETS series in the $1.00 bins. Took 'em all home for $49 + tax! Quote

Their availability on cd made this buy more a luxury than a necessity, but I had sought the set on lp for years. It's nice to finally own it. Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted October 20, 2014 Report Posted October 20, 2014 I wouldn't have bypassed that either. Congrats! Quote

Nice score on tauhid. Someone must've not known that's a $30+ record at least. Quote
jeffcrom Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Atlanta has some great record stores, but I seldom see original-press Blue Notes here. But this afternoon I found a mono copy of Jackie McLean's One Step Beyond for six dollars. The cover is pretty beat, but the record sounds very good - just the slightest surface noise in quiet passages. Quote
spinlps Posted January 4, 2015 Report Posted January 4, 2015 Original Mal / 2 on Prestige. Jacket has two random pieces of tape in front and two "Not For Sale" stamps in back. LP plays really, really nicely after cleaning on the VPI.... $20. Quote
Homefromtheforest Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 The UK Fontana pressing of "eastern sounds" by Yusef Lateef for $30 Canadian in NM condition. A welcome upgrade to my late 60s/early 70s prestige issue since I'm not up for spending a few hundred on an original Moodsville issue in nice shape... Quote

spinlps Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) Booker Ervin - The Book Cooks. OG on Bethlehem. Jacket has seam splits and is around VG-, vinyl looks NM- with no spindle marks on either side. I'll have to wait until I get home later this week to see how it plays. I paid more than I normally would at $50 but it usually goes for way more than that. Edited February 12, 2015 by spinlps Quote

clifford_thornton Posted March 10, 2015 Report Posted March 10, 2015 Found a near mint version of this for $6.00 the other day. i would of bought that Curious date. It's been issued under a number of different titles and on several labels, the first being under Rocky Boyd's name for Jazz Time.I'm actually looking for the International Polydor version called "West 42nd Street" because I have a strange appreciation for that particular label...
