Recorded 1971 (the time of cobblestone/earliest Muse, no?), not released until 1974 on MPS, Moosy & Cohn, Barry Harris, Sam Jones, Roy Brooks, "East Of The sun", sure sounds like a Don Schlitten thing to me. Yes? No? If not, who?

As always, thanks in advance!

I have this one - don't know exactly how many LPs Schlitten produced for MPS (who had a distribution deal with Prestige for some time), but the ones I heard are all fine - I fondly remember two others I still have:

Earl Hines - Jaki Byard: Duet!

Barry Harris: Vicissitudes (with George Duvivier & Leroy Williams)

Is there a list of these somewhere?

There is an MPS label list - no details but from the titles I would suggest the following could be Schlitten's productions:

15321 Red Garland: The Quota 1971

15322 Red Garland: Auf Wiedersehn 1971

15336 Marian McPartland: Interplay 1971

15338 James Moody-Al Cohn: Too Heavy For Words 1971

15376 Earl Hines & Jaki Byard: Duet! 1972

15385 Jimmy Raney: Momentum 1972

15386 Barry Harris: Vicissitudes 1972

Is Harris' "Vicissitudes" worth getting? Had them put the LP aside for me, seems it's in pretty good shape, cover too (though it'll need some gluing back together).

Here's a large scan of the backcover, with the credits and all clearly visible.

If its not priced ridiculously, I can't imagine why it wouldn't be worth hearing. But I have no specific knowledge of the grooves, only knowledge of the players, and I can't imagine they fail to deliver the old bebop trio thing.

I have Vicissitudes, and think it's a nice album - isn't that Duvivier on bass? He alone is worth the price of any album he plays on. Must give this a spin some time this week ...
