Vincent, Paris Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Last of the "Montreal Tapes", the duo between Charlie Haden and Joe Henderson should be released by Universal before summer. Quote
RDK Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 great news! But it's not the last one is it? Wasn't there one with Pat Methany, or did i miss that one? Quote
Michael Fitzgerald Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 I believe this is not duo, but trio - with Al Foster (at least according to the notes on the Bley/Haden/Motian CD). Also - did I miss something? Has the Metheny/Haden/DeJohnette show from July 5 really been issued? I know private tapes circulate. Mike Quote
Michael Fitzgerald Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Or maybe what is being said by Verve is, "This is the last Montreal Tapes CD we are issuing," meaning that the Metheny show will remain unissued. They've always said, "All of these concerts were recorded by Radio Canada, and the majority will be released on compact-disc for Verve." Of course, that statement is true no matter what - ECM got the Gismonti and Verve has *already* put out 5 of the 8 shows. Mike Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Glad for any chance to hear some 'new' Joe Henderson!!! In fact, unless I'm forgetting something, isn't this the only "previously unreleased" Joe Henderson that's been released at any time since he passed away?? (Counting anything Joe's on, either as a leader, or as a sideman.) Quote
bertrand Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Does anyone know what tunes they play? I'll probably pick this up, but I may hesitate if it's all standards. I sure miss Joe - it'll be nice to hear some 'new' material. Bertrand. Quote

Mike As far as I know, the Metheny-Haden won't be release because it's too expensive in terms of rights & stuff. Quote
