BERIGAN Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 I have an Earthlink account, and a seldom used excite account...Earthlink is supposed to be blocking many emails, and If I check at their website, you see they have...but damn, I just looked at my deleted folder, and I have over 100 that have come in, in the last 24 hours!!!!!! Dated from 2002, all the way to several hours in the future, (at 10:17 Pm a great offer to buy drugs online will come in!!) My point is that on an average day, 40-50 emails to delete, now it has doubled in just the last few days!!! Anyone else notice this??? What is in the near future??? 500 emails a day...1000???? Some don't even have my email address!!! It will say Earl, or rebel...they haven't disguised it, if I click properties, it will say Earl@hsv.earthlink!!!! What the hell does the HSV mean??? I also see atl.earthlink, which I assume means atlanta...anyone else notice that kind of weirdness with emails sent to them???? How many emails a day to you delete???? Quote

I'm going to change my email and disable the other- I'll see how that works. It's ridiculous the amount of garbage I'm getting. Big Wheel: I had the same thing a year ago- I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled everything. I have a Compaq that I bought in 1999 and it comes with a disc which will return the hard drive to factory condition. It's a pain to do and takes lots of time, but to me it's worth it. Quote

I also have a Yahoo address, but their software stops all junk mail from getting through. I wonder how many more messages we will receive about lengthening your wotsisname. He was contacted by a man from Australia who wanted to send him a cashier's check for $5,000 and have my coworker send him the bike and some change. Well, I heard my coworkers discussing this amongst themselves. He was about to do it. He'd given the guy his contact information and everything. As soon as I heard them talking, I knew it was the 'ol Nigerian cashier's check scam. I told my coworker as soon as I could, but at first he didn't believe. It was only after I sent him an email with links to a bunch of articles that he finally saw the truth. I just wanted to post this to warn you that these scammers are using other means than email and ebay now. Quote
