Matthew Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 Bummer note from Classic Records: Bad News Classic Records regrets to inform you that because of circumstances beyond our control, the Classic Bob Dylan Signature LP Series has been delayed indefinitely until further notice. Currently, these releases are on hold as Sony considers the developing vinyl market place. We are very disappointed and frustrated as we were looking forward to re-issuing all 15 titles on Classic Records Quiex SV-P 200-gram vinyl allowing Bob Dylan fans to experience the Classic treatment of these titles. I was looking forward to getting these since I've been so impressed by the Led Zeppelin lps that Classic Records put out. Quote
wolff Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 (edited) Interesting....Good old Sony is up to their old tricks. Unbelievable!!! Are they afraid audiophile LP's will hurt their Dylan SACD sales? SACD is Sony's baby and from what I hear they are loosing $$$ bigtime. I really do not think they are considering getting back into vinyl all the way. They did some some pretty bad things to get CD's in the stores 20 years ago. Here we go again with the SACD. Try a few of the Sundazed mono Dylan's. I likes 'em. Edited October 22, 2003 by wolff Quote
Claude Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 Was that an email by Classic Records? There is no info on their website. Quote
Matthew Posted October 22, 2003 Author Report Posted October 22, 2003 Was that an email by Classic Records? There is no info on their website. Yeah, it was by email. I like the Sundazed monos -- I assume that the Classic Records Dylan's would have been stereo, which I perfer for the "electric Dylan". Quote
ajf67 Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 I like the Sundazed monos too. They did a really nice job with those. Too bad it sounds like Sony is playing games. Quote
Stefan Wood Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 Is it possible that there was a conflict with the Sundazed reissues -- as in, hey we're already doing this, why should Classic Records get in on it? Quote
BruceH Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 Interesting....Good old Sony is up to their old tricks. Unbelievable!!! They SUCK!! Evildoers! Quote
wolff Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 The conflict could also be with Sony's SACD releases of the Dylan titles. Audiophile LP's are in direct competition with 2 channel SACD, at least in my circle. Quote
