I'd pick a Blue Note Session that wasn't recorded at Rudy's studio(s). In fact, Rudy wasn't even there. Ornette's second night at the Golden Circle - Dec. 4, 1965 - would be a good one to go out on.

...and could change it to go back in time to have it happen during any Blue Note session, right in Rudy's studio, right while the session was going down, which one would it be?

At this point in time it would have to be the Turrentine gig over at Minton's. Did Rudy record anything else over there for BN? Lion was quite effusive with praise for the entire affair so I should think he would have gone back to the well, so to speak. Must have been a great place!

Maybe standing at the bar at the Five Spot, within earshot of Miles and Mingus jeering the Coleman quartet. (More of a fly-on-the-wall wish). Lurking about the The Five Spot from early '57 til it closed the first time would've done it for me.
