slide_advantage_redoux
I have an embarassingly small selection of recordings with Enrico Rava (as leader or otherwise). What are some of his better recordings. I have his ECM in quartet with Roswell Rudd, and his Italian Ballads CD. Aside from that, I may have him on a Carla Bley big band release. (or is that a Charlie Haden cd?). I need to go dig them out to make certain. Thanks in advance. I love everything I have heard of him. Van Basten II
Shades of Chet is the one that made me look for him at the first place, so i have a special place for this one.. Also would strongly suggestMontreal diaries A and b , with a set in duo with Bollani and the other one called Rava Plays Miles Davis with his very fine quintet, both are on the very fine french label Label Bleu. Van Basten II
Take a look here: Four German lions and a grey Italian wolf. Just looked at this thread at least i'm constant , by the way here's another thread about Rava and other fine italian jazzmen http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...=39273&st=0 Edited July 26, 2008 by Van Basten II
WorldB3
Easy Living by Enrico Rava from 2004 w/ Stefano Bollani is a must own. The Words and the Days is also very good.
Joe
My favorite Rava releases: -- L'AGE MUR (Philology), a pianoless quartet with Lee Konitz and a great (if not "name") Italian rhythm section -- DUO IN NOIR (Between The Line), with Ran Blake -- THE PILGRIM AND THE STARS on ECM -- ITALIAN BALLADS (Music Masters), with Richard Galliano
