randissimo Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 If another recording like this is the result, you have my permission to stay at Ron's house and raid his refrigerator again. Actually, the next one will be recorded IN my refrigerator: Should give it a really cool vibe. Quote
medjuck Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 It has arrived!! BTW what y were you song of the day? Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 here at last! That's good; I was beginning to get worried. Quote
Alexander Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 I placed an order last night! I'll let you know what I think when I get my copy! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 I thought that was you! I had just taken the pre-orders down and put that new listing up and someone ordered it. That was funny! A new article about the CD and our appearance this weekend at the Old Town Jazz Festival is in the local alternative paper: http://www.lansingcitypulse.com/index.php?...3&Itemid=63 Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 My packages arrived but I have yet to give it a spin. Hope to do so tonight. Quote
.:.impossible Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 I've got organissimo running on the squeezebox right now. Random shuffle of tunes from Waiting for the Boogaloos, This is The Place, East Lansing Summer Solstice, and Groovadelphia. We've listened to Groove a few times while making dinner and I really want to hear it in context with what y'all have done in the past. The playlist began with Grease Monkey from East Lansing and is now working through Decoder (which is a killer to me). You have to hand it to yourselves... you set the standard pretty damned high from the beginning and have maintained that level of quality ever since. Quote
Bright Moments Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 i am enjoying this muchly!!!!! well done gents! Quote
Clunky Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 I got mine a few days ago. Most rounded of the three albums. Love the title track, second track and Arno's tune especially. Harmonica bites man indeed !! Quote
Joe G Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 Wonderful comments everyone. Thanks for taking the time. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 CD should come with a cheesesteak with grilled onions Quote
PHILLYQ Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 I'm giving it a second spin right now and it sounds even better than the first spin. Quote
.:.impossible Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 I actually feel like the emphasis is on the "healthy" side of the menu. The greasy stuff is good, but I hear the kitchen is expanding its palette. Quote
.:.impossible Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 The boys are cookin' with a lot less fat! Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Is this another organ trio record? Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Got mine Tuesday, and I've only had time to spin a couple tracks, here and there. Hope to give it a full spin tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Thanks!! Quote
Dave Garrett Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Got mine Monday - it was a shitty day at work, so it was nice to get home and find a package bearing the distinctive "Big O Records" label waiting for me. I'm on my second spin now as I type this, and I can already tell this is going to be in heavy rotation in my CD player for a while. Great stuff, guys! Now to get up to speed with the earlier two discs... Quote
medjuck Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Played it in my car on the way into LA today. Surprised (pleasantly) by the non-greazy slower numbers. Whole cd made the trip very enjoyable. Quote
JohnJ Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 My package arrived in Tokyo yesterday. Quick shipping! Will listen at the weekend. Thanks Jim. Quote
Niko Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 (edited) tonight i dreamed i called jim alfredson to order groovadelphia, his wife was on the phone saying "do you know what time it is?", i thought about it for a moment and noticed that in america it was still in the middle of the night (and felt very bad about waking up the children), so i ordered groovadelphia and the two other organissimo cds... guess on friday i'll know a bit more about who will pay me what in the next one and half years... will place an order soon...(at least if friday's results are half decent) Edited July 31, 2008 by Niko Quote
AllenLowe Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 "My package arrived in Tokyo yesterday." which would be fine except for the fact that you live in Utah - Quote
mikeweil Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 (edited) Just like the others, this will dominate the soundtrack of my days for a while .... Great job, terrific sound - now the drums sound the way I like 'em - fantastic recording job, Jim! Great grooves, and I LOVE those latinized tracks. The rhythms are much more authentic than with other organ trios, and it still fits the jazz concept - this is it, guys! :tup :tup :tup Edited July 31, 2008 by mikeweil Quote
