jazzbo Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 The Teagarden is one of my favorites. I'd be surprised if you don't like it. . . fill us in. Quote
EKE BBB Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 I also picked in on this 15% off sale: the Teagarden and the Bix/Trumbauer/Teagarden (I have the complete Bix on the Sunbeam sets, but wanted to get the non-Bix sessions). Quote
Ron S Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Sale prices are still in effect--at least for the moment--in case anyone's suffering from "nonbuyer's remorse" today. Quote
Cliff Englewood Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 The Tal Farlow Set is on backorder at the moment, according to Scott yesterday. Quote

jacknife Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 "nonbuyers remorse" got the best of me! Teagarden ordered along with the soon to be gone Wilson. Argh...I thought I had kicked this habit. Quote

BFrank Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 Teagarden showed up today. Playing disk 1 now. Definitely not my "usual".....but I like the change of pace. Quote
thomastreichler Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 I took advantage of the sale and ordered the Teagarden set. Admittedly I was a bit sceptical, but now, having listened to the first three discs so far, I have to say that this is a truly great set. This is first rate Dixieland Jazz. The band works as a unit in a way only working bands can achieve. Although there are - apart from Teagarden - no so called big names, it is a joy to listen to the nicely arranged ensembles as well as to the generally very good solos. Don Goldie, blessed with a beautiful tone and great technique, allows himself only a few moments of bad taste, but that does not affect the quality of the performances overall; Henry Cuesta plays competently and flawlessly; Don Ewell is superb as an accompanist as welll as in his solos; Stan Puls and Ronnie Greb / Barrett Deems provide effortless and swinging support (this is actually a swing rhythm section, not the heavy thumping two beat kind of rhythm one often hears with traditional bands); and Big T's playing (and occasional singing) is nothing short of sensational, one of the best trombone players ever. I am very happy with this set. Quote
Big Al Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 Crud. You guys keep talking about this Teagarden set, which I completely ignored during the sale, and now I've gone and listened to the clips, and NOW I wish I'd ordered this set while the sale was still going on!!! I HATE when I do that!!!! Quote
BFrank Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 Crud. You guys keep talking about this Teagarden set, which I completely ignored during the sale, and now I've gone and listened to the clips, and NOW I wish I'd ordered this set while the sale was still going on!!! I HATE when I do that!!!! Well, it's not going out of print soon (AFAIK), and being only a 4-disk set, it's not really that expensive as Mosaics go. So you can still get it for not that much more than the sale price. Quote
Big Al Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 Actually, my Turrentine set is on back-order until the end of August. I e-mail Mosaic to see if they could switch my order to the Teagarden set and credit my credit card. Will keep y'all posted. Quote
Big Al Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 Sweet!!! Hi Al, Thank you for your email and order confirmation. You are correct, not difficult at all. I have now exchanged the Turrentine for the Teagarden CD set. I have applied the sale price toward the Teagarden set. Note, you were not charged for the Turrentine set. You are charged at the time the merchandise is going to ship. You will be charged $57.00 today for the Teagarden, no additional charge for shipping. No credit will be applied towards your account. Please enjoy the music. Best Wishes, Cindy Thanks, guys! I can't wait to hear this one! The clips on the site are terrific, and I'm eagerly awaiting the rest of it! Quote

Did she say no charge for shipping? How did you swing that? It was no additional charge for shipping. i.e. the shipping charge for my original order was $12, and switching out the Turrentine for the Teagarden didn't result in a change in shipping charge since the change in value didn't drop the total below $150. Free shipping would've been cool, though! Quote
Big Al Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Teagarden was waiting for me when I got home and BOYOBOY am I glad I changed my order! I'm not a big fan of Dixieland, but OH MY does this swing!!! Thanks again, guys! Quote
