Claude Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 (edited) jazzmatazz lists the Miles Davis "Live at the Cellar Door" 6CD set (3x2CD sets exactly) as being released in spring 2004 Miles Davis - Live at the Cellar Door - three 2-CD sets (Wed/Thu-Fri-Sat) (Columbia/Legacy) Spring 2004 ? with Bartz, Jarrett, Henderson, DeJohnette, Moreira, and John McLaughlin. "Live-Evil" released some of this material. I was just made aware that the set has already leaked into filesharing networks, so it must be ready for production. It does not look like a fake. Rooster_Ties Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 (edited) Paul Tingen was able to 'borrow' recordings (promos, whatever) of all the Cellar Door material - direct from Columbia - when he was writing Miles Beyond : Electric Explorations of Miles Davis, 1967-1991. He discusses all of the Cellar Door sets (nearly all the tracks, as I recall) in the book. I'm there too!!! Edited October 18, 2003 by Rooster_Ties Quote
bertrand Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 Has anyone figured out where the four live tracks that exist on the current version of Live/Evil fit in? Since they have McLaughlin, I guess they are on dics 5-6. The titles are 'Sivad', What I Say', 'Funky Tonk' and 'Inamorata'. Bertrand. Quote
Gary Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 Is looks like its going to be a good year next year! This , all those RVGs & an Albert Ayler box! Quote
DrJ Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 This is gonna be a GREAT one, if the LIVE-EVIL stuff from the dates is any indication. Cannot wait. Quote
mikeweil Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 This has always been my favourite electric Miles. Gonna get me one immediately - which I didn't with the others - but this one ... Quote
brownie Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 I'll join in! More music from the best Electric Miles band! Let's get Winter over and bring in Spring 2004 right away... Quote
Eric Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 Uhm ... not to mute anyone's enthusiasm, but I think Alan has listed this as "Spring 2004" for a looooooooooooooooooong time, so I am not sure this is news. Hopefully I am wrong. I love this album. Snagged the SACD version too, which sounds amazing. I emailed Paul Tingen a few months ago to see if he had any insight on the "real" release date and he did not. As Rooster mentions, tapes of this thing are out there, so it would seem this will ultimately be a reality. I love electric Miles and aside from the Pete Cosey band, this is the outfit that does it for me. I can't wait to grab this! Eric Quote
Eric Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 BTW, the Paul Tingen book is a MUST for anyone who enjoys electric Miles. I think my obsession with it was one of the 250 or so thing that lead to my divorce B) Eric Quote
dave9199 Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 Were the other 249 all the other electric live Miles releases? Quote
Eric Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 Yes and the women I listened to them with Quote
king ubu Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 Real good news! Let's hope this WILL come out next year! Live-Evil is my favorite electric Miles album. ubu Quote
medjuck Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 I just hope that this doesn't mean a postponement of "Seven Steps to Berlin" Quote

Little High People Posted October 24, 2003 Report Posted October 24, 2003 hey, if they can do 2 miles boxes this year, they surely can do 2 next year ... right? i mean, columbia is known for strictly adhering to their release schedules ... seriously, though ... they could push back seven steps to berlin another year if it meant getting this out as soon as possible!!!!! by the way ... where do all you guys get yr. promo discs and such. i live in a "socially retarded area" and find these things difficult to come by ... they probably show up on ebay, right ...? ghost of miles Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 (edited) Have yet to grab the Jack Johnson box, but VERY eager to hear this one, as I'm also a fan of the LIVE-EVIL material. Is any of the 1969 "Lost Quintet" material scheduled for release in this series? Edited October 28, 2003 by ghost of miles Quote

Rooster_Ties Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 It'll be nearly a year before we ever see "Seven Steps to Berlin" released. The "Jack Johnson" box came out at the very end of September of 2003. I'd be shocked if we saw the "Seven Steps to Berlin" box any time before Aug. 1st. Just a hunch. Quote
