Jim R Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 Hard to argue with Chuck's choice. More for the list: St. Louis Blues Little Rock getaway Walkin' To New Orleans Do you know the way to San Jose (nah, scratch that one) Philadelphia Freedom (not a favorite of mine, just mentioning it) (stuck in) Lodi Lots of good ol' Texas choices: Streets of Laredo (Out in the west Texas town of) El Paso Galveston San Antonio Rose Just the tip of the iceberg, no doubt... Chuck Nessa Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 "One Night in Bangkok". Anyone who has been there will know why. Have you noticed any itching or swelling? Quote
JohnJ Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Well, it's been a while since I was last there Chuck. Also, a favorite of mine is Horace Silver's tribute to my home city, "Tokyo Blues". Quote
Patrick Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Well if it's a silly poll, gotta put a vote in for that Ian Hunter classic (or Presidents of the United States of America remake), "Cleveland Rocks". Okay so there isn't much to the vocals. Yeah, there isn't much else either, but it gets many a head boppin' and body rockin'. Of course, if one is seeking inspired lyrics that include the names of northeast Ohio towns--and I'm sure there are many of you--then tread no farther than the final verse of that Tom Lehrer classic "In Old Mexico". Come on now, everybody together... "Now it's fiesta time,... in Akron, Ohio. But it's back to old Guadalajara I'm longing to go...." Quote
