Aggie87 Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Two different guys, like Bill Evans the piano player, Bill Evans the sax/flautist, and Bill Evans the sax player. Okay, that's three. Quote
papsrus Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 And the bassist is the brother of Anat Cohen, I believe. Quote

Rooster_Ties Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Do check out Avishai Cohen the trumpeter, people. Half my collection is in a scatter at the moment, but I can tell you from the two dates I've heard him on -- he's BAAAD!!! Quote
Hot Ptah Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Avishai Cohen the bassist is really good too! Quote
bluemonk Posted June 17, 2008 Author Report Posted June 17, 2008 Okay, this is pretty interesting. I heard both of them make great music.... I'm very familiar with Anat Cohen's work, I dig her album "Poetica" and the 3 Cohens album "Braid," which features her trumpet playing brother. Quote

WorldB3 Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 I just picked up the Trumpet player Avishai Cohen's After The Big Rain and he is bad ass. I bought it on recommendations from friends and its well worth it. It also has Lionel Loueke on it who is kind of blowing up right now playing with Herbie Hancock. The bass player is freaking awesome. Make sure to check out his work with Chick Corea (especially his bass playing on Fingerprints on Past and Future Presents) and last couple trio records under his own name. There was an interesting read in the May issue Jazz Times on the Cohen's and the Israeli Jazz Wave in NY. Quote

Very gifted musical family. From the sound samples I've heard, her brother really can tear a trumpet up which is evident on the song "Freedom" from this album. Quote
B. Goren. Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Yuval Cohen (soprano saxophonist) is the third brother of Avishai and Anat. Quote
B. Clugston Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Avishai the trumpeter (left), Anat (middle), & Yuval (right) Cohen: Hey, isn't that Avishai Cohen the bassist sitting in the passenger seat of that minivan in the distance? Quote
