Wow. ... I guess if a person was desperate for cash, one could always throw an ad in the paper or a magazine with a number for a dedicated phone line and ... watch the money roll in? My question is, if someone is willing to pay for a phone conversation, why not just pay for the real thing? I mean, if talking dirty is your thing (not you Dan, just in general) and your sweetie ain't the one to confess your darkest desires to (another set of issues altogether), why not hire a girl (or guy) and talk dirty face to face? Or put them on the phone line in the living room or something. Then at lease you get the added bonus of possible direct physical contact at some point. ... or ... maybe that's not such a good idea.

People who want indirect contact want indirect contact. Sexual fantasies are ridiculously specific, which is why there are whole industries built around satisfying specific needs.

As Larry says, the whole point is indirect contact. Not only does it free people up to be open about their desires, it allows them some level of satisfaction without the potential health risks that direct contact could incur.

One thing that happened when I worked for that company that I didn't mention: when I was taking the incoming calls, we had some technical difficulties and the whole system was down. All of a sudden, my[/] phone rings, and its a girl trying to get matched up to little old me. I quickly figured out that this was coming from the phone sex room, I had apparently made an impression on one of the frightfully repellent swamp sows that took those calls. So I start to have some fun, I ask her what she looks like - and she goes off about her hemmorhoids. Really charming.

Actually, come to think of it, when I took an incoming call from a woman, they'd often ask if they could talk to me. I'd have to give them the malarkey about me just taking these calls, all the while thinking that I should just tell her she'll end up talking to me anyway.

Oh, and I'll never forget our resident pre-op transsexual. She thought she was the female version of Fabio, so she went by Fabia.
