Brad Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Since all the group winners have exited so far, you have to wonder if they thought about how close they are to the final and just got too conservative instead of playing like this was the first game of the tournament. Quote

Think that Russians beat them at their own game, they actually were the team with more pace. Quote
Durium Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 SOLITUDE It's all over ........ Solitude Keep swinging Durium Quote
Van Basten II Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 Not a great week of picking winners 1 out of 4 only. Who had those teams in their final four ? Spain Turkey Germany Russia Quote
Brad Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 I had Spain and that was it. All I can say is that justice was done tonight in the PKs as Spain was the best team throughout the game against an Italian team more interested in defending than attacking (what else is new). Now, I can relax for a few days until Thursday. Quote
user0815 Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Not a great week of picking winners 1 out of 4 only. Who had those teams in their final four ? Spain Turkey Germany Russia well, not me. i had expected to see italy, the netherlands and croatia on this list ... but, i have to say ... great tournament so far, many surprises and much drama! Clunky Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Well done Spain, deserving winners tonight.....Italy were too dull, not exactly a great match but a just result. Quote
Van Basten II Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 Going to see Roscoe Mitchell tonightand in the same building that the gig is taking place, there is a spanish restaurant, think they'll be some happy people there. Quote
porcy62 Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 (edited) Boring match, both teams were dull, the Spain tried to win a bit harder. PK's result are overall right. I can't say I'll miss this italian's playing. Edited June 23, 2008 by porcy62 Quote
EKE BBB Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 At last we've broken our "quarter finals curse".... let's hope we're not starting a new "semifinals curse"!!! Quote
B. Goren. Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 What a boring evening it is without footbal... -_- Quote
porcy62 Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 What a boring evening it is without footbal... -_- Yeah, I have to listen to that noisy music they call "Jass". Life is hard sometimes. Quote
Van Basten II Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 Saw a futbol related movie instead of watching an actual game http://www.11-mm.de/filme_2007/fan_demanium.htm Very interesting doc about the life of people mostly residing in Germany but coming from different countries and the emotions they go through during the last world cup as they cheered for their respective teams. The German guy trying to build a huge trophy is quite funny and a little bit pathetic at the same time. Sorry to say that the italian representative is a bit of an arrogant twat, especially the way he dismisses people from Australia. Other ironic bit, the french fan who says prior to the final Zidane is like God he can't do no wrong, hmmmm. Quote
B. Goren. Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Is it right that Donadoni was fired??? Quote
Van Basten II Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 Yep, ciao Roberto http://www.goal.com/en-india/Articolo.aspx...tenutoId=749715 Quote
Van Basten II Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) In an ironic twist when i do a seach of BBC and Donadoni all i'm getting is http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...aly/7436873.stm Finally found a related article http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...aly/7471598.stm Edited June 24, 2008 by Van Basten II Quote
porcy62 Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Sadly, in Italy the appointment of the coach of the national football team attracts more attention from italians then the national political election for the PM. Quote
Swinging Swede Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 Turkey has nine players unavailable tonight, including Nihat who scored both late goals against Czechia. They are even talking about throwing in the third goalkeeper as a forward. Anything but a German victory is inconceivable. Quote
Van Basten II Posted June 25, 2008 Author Report Posted June 25, 2008 Well despite that and the scoreline, Turkey got the edge in the first half, let's see if Germans can adapt in the second half Quote
Swinging Swede Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 Amazing first half by the Turks, but Schweinsteiger saves Germany. Quote
Van Basten II Posted June 25, 2008 Author Report Posted June 25, 2008 Fuckin' power failures, did they ask Domenech to be in charge of that. Quote
Van Basten II Posted June 25, 2008 Author Report Posted June 25, 2008 Can't really comment a game i barely could see, but it seems that Germans outurked the Turks. Quote
