randyhersom
Started May 30th, several gold bracelets and six figure paydays already won. I'm going out for Event 43 Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo starting June 24th, will play a couple of smaller warmup events at the Binions Classic tournament just before that. Almost no chance I'll make it to the Main Event this year, but I hope to some year.
AndrewHill
Good luck Randy, it should be a lot of fun. I love watching poker on tv, so while I was in Vegas last July, I went to the Main Event at the Rio as a spectator. If I recall, the field was split up into three. So our section included Chris Ferguson (stood behind him), TJ Cloutier (got his autograph), Chris Moneymaker (sat in the audience at the feature table to watch him) among others. It was interesting to be 'coached' as an audience member because it basically goes down as you see on tv except the coaching guy kept on encouraging us to clap for our favorites when they won a hand. I guess we were all being too quiet. Greg Raymer busted out when we were there, which they announce over the loudspeaker. Also saw Chris Danneman and Rene Angelil who were sitting next to each other. And there is a constant noise of poker chips. It reminded me of a swarm of bees.
randyhersom
Thanks Ghost. I had come to tournament poker from tournament scrabble, so I barely noticed the sound, the rattle of tiles in Scrabble being fairly similar. I love poker on TV, even last years 12+ hour pay-per-view of the main event where you couldn't see the hole cards, but have yet to spend more than a few seconds watching live when I'm not playing. On June 21 and 22 I'll be playing in the Binions Classic (results posted within a day or three) On June 24th I'll be playing the World Series of Poker Event 43 - Pot Limit Omaha High-Low: and if I make the final table there will be live video here or here on June 26: No plans to play the Main Event starting July 3rd this year. porcy62
Randy, you're my man. I am the worst poker player of the galaxy, always been, and you can't imagine how much I admire good players since I discovered poker in my youth, seriously. Go and get them! AndrewHill
anyone watching the main event? i like that guy carroll with the lakers jersey..... Hellmuth finished in 35th place..... Yeah, two episodes every Tuesday. I'm trying to not look to see who won, which won't be broadcasted until November 11th. I like Carroll too; first time I've heard his name, or as he says, " I'm the best poker player you've never heard of"

Jazzmoose
I must admit, I consider watching poker to be a sure sign that the end is near. I can understand watching baseball, or basketball, but poker and sex are things you do, not things you watch...
AndrewHill
the final table for the main event begins in november 2008 WSOP Quad Aces vs Royal Flush Oh, didn't know that. That's cool because last year they announced the winner at the end of the tournament and it ruined it for me.

king ubu
why is this called "World Series"? Because US = world?
papsrus
why is this called "World Series"? Because US = world? There are people from all over the world who come to play in it. And there have been international winners. It is also the biggest, richest poker tournament in the world, I think. Other than that, you're probably right. There are similar tournaments in Europe that some of the big name guys go play. I think a lot of the up and coming players have been from Russia and Scandinavia. And it seems like they're all about 21 years old, too.
