PappyKhaki Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 I dilly-dallied way too long before finally getting 'round to buying Mosaic's 8-CD "The Classic Columbia and OKeh Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang Sessions" (MD8-213) and was horrified to discover last week that it was already OOP. My desperate call to Mosaic revealed that, as is apparently sometimes the case with recently deleted titles, still available were a couple of partial sets that had been cannibalized for replacement discs. I was fortunate to be able to acquire, at reduced price, a set missing only disc #2. Is there, perhaps, an Organissimo owner of this excellent set who pities a poor procrastinator and ...? (Mutually beneficial reciprocity envisaged.) FWIW, as of last week there was reportedly one additional partial Venuti/Lang set, missing discs #2 & #4, still available. -- PappyK, NYC Quote
Bluerein Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 if you think it's legitimet to ask for a cd-r not, but in my book it's not appropriate to do so. Quote
Christiern Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 There are times that call for flexibility, Bluerein. Obviously, PappyK would buy that disc if he could. I think you need to take another look at your "book." Quote
Bright Moments Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 i agree with chris on this one so it must be right! Quote
Jazzmoose Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 I was going to throw in my two cents worth on the controversy, but after seeing Bright Moments' signature, I can't remember what it was... Quote
Bluerein Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 MODERATOR!!!!!!! (oh no need to be shouting they don't do anything anyway) Quote
RDK Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 I suppose you could shout, but there's also the "report a post" button if you're so offended. Quote
PappyKhaki Posted June 8, 2008 Author Report Posted June 8, 2008 I very much appreciate the forbearance of the group in this matter. I was devastated that I'd delayed too long in purchasing the Venuti/Lang set, overjoyed to be able to acquire 7/8 of it, and then further elated and crushed when I listened to how good it is. In no way whatsoever do I feel "entitled" to the missing disc #2, but I simply could not refrain from attempting to fill the gap. I've been a heretofore silent reader of Organissimo for years, and this seemed the optimal forum to present my plea. Given the nature of these sets, is there not some room for flexibility here, whether in aid of my own error of procrastination, or because little Johnny used a Brillo pad to clean the peanut butter off disc #1 of Daddy's The Complete Capitol Fifties Jack Teagarden Sessions? My problem may have been solved, but I am as yet uncertain. I crave the continuing indulgence of the forum. Thanks. -- PappyK Quote
Christiern Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 Wish I could help--hope you get the disc--ignore Netherlands RIAA Police Quote

I'll ask for guidance. Quote
Larry Kart Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 Upon further review, PappyK's request can stand. Quote
PappyKhaki Posted June 9, 2008 Author Report Posted June 9, 2008 Thanks, Organissimo, the bird is in flight (or soon will be)! I'm a fan-for-life, who hopes to be able to pay the favor forward, multiply. -- PappyK Quote
RDK Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 Glad to hear it. It'd be hypocritical of me otherwise since I first became 'hooked' on Mosaic - and have since bought many sets from them - after several sympathetic jazz fanatics hooked me up with some oop sets. Quote
Cliff Englewood Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 Glad you got your disc, nothing worse than that incomplete feeling, always there in the back of your mind, chipping away at you every day, until you just can't take it anymore....... Quote
