is the remastered "Ascension" defective?

I just came home with my 2nd copy of Trane's "Ascension", and for the 2nd time in a row it appears "Edition I", in the last two minutes, skips and will not play through to the end, it pretty much cuts off during Elvin's pressroll. I've tried it in multiple players. Is this among the problems Impulse! never fixed among Trane reissues?

ok, apparently it won't play properly in a CD or DVD drive in the computer, thankfully it does in an regular player.

I think the problem is that it's longer than 80 minutes so some CD players won't read it.

It is usually the last few minutes of the disc giving players a "test".

Never had the single disc version so I can't help you with the issue at hand.

thanks Chuck. Windows media player says 79 minutes but I thought it was longer than that. Has anyone else had a similar problem with this disc?

I don't have this CD, as I have the "Major works ..." 2CD box set.

At the time (in the 90s), 80min CDs also had an increased risk of disc manufacturing defects. I don't know if it's still the case today.

The Ascension CD is 79:26, was released in 2000.
