It is the solo on this track by Sal Nistico that is extremely good. Sal is at his very best here and his playing makes this the best track I have heard this week. ! Quote
jazzbo Posted February 3, 2017 Author Report Posted February 3, 2017 This week it's "The Lady is a Tramp" by Tony Bennett from "Perfectly Frank." Just for the Ralph Sharon solo in an Ellingtonian/Monkian manner. Quote
Peter Friedman Posted February 3, 2017 Report Posted February 3, 2017 Absolutely marvelous playing by Pee Wee Russell and Bud Freeman, especially on these two tracks: Home Cooking (11-17-33) and Beat To The Socks (1-17-38) Quote
John Tapscott Posted February 4, 2017 Report Posted February 4, 2017 (edited) Listened through the Bill Evans 9 CD Fantasy set this week: 2 tracks really stood out for me (out of so many great tracks) "Bass Face" from and "Eiderdown" from I'd forgotten how good both these albums are; especially the latter which has outstanding playing from both Warne and Lee. John Tapscott Posted February 17, 2017 Report Posted February 17, 2017 (edited) A terrific arrangement of Tyner's "Search for Peace" with a great Pete Christlieb solo from this very fine CD by this very fine K.C. band. Some great playing here (and of course, K.C. has a great big band tradition). Also a very swinging arrangement here of Shorter's "Black Nile" by former org participant Free for All (Paul McKee) who has a fine solo on the track along with Christlieb.
