Head Man Posted July 21, 2015 Report Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) Theme tune from Spartacus by the Metropole Jazz Orchestra conducted by Maria Schneider:When I'm in the mood this track always hits the spot for me. On her album "Coming About" Maria has the wonderful Rich Perry soloing on tenor sax but this version is mighty fine too. Edited July 21, 2015 by Head Man Quote

jeffcrom Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 Louis Armstrong - I Double Dare You. This 1938 recording with his big band just might Pops' masterpiece of the period between the early-30s Victor records and the Town Hall concert. The final trumpet chorus is about as good as anything he ever did. My homeboy J.C. Higginbotham is on fire, too. Quote
