porcy62 Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 I had a Canon PowerShot A80, unfortunately it died during my last holyday. I was pretty satisfied with it. Do you have any suggestion for a replacement in the same price range? A couple of hints: 1) I don't want a bulky and expensive reflex, I travel for fun, not as a reporter (I do sometimes, but I have my own cinematographer, and the producer pays for him ) 2) I don't want a Moby Dick's like instruction's booklet, I am too lazy for it, so I presume I don't need an ultrasophisticated camera, with hundreds of programs. Thanks! Quote

Man with the Golden Arm Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 Just picked up one of these. In GREEN! Olympus 790SW Got it much cheaper than the norm of the internets pricing so you need to look. Had a moisture issue with the last camera - a Fuji Finepix - and never was Moby Dickin' around with it! WTF I say. S o this seemed a better way to go than to have constant worry about minor moisture attacking the board. Screen in the back is nice and big and the buttons aren't so microscopic. Fast between shots. Supposedly you can drop it from about a meter and they say you can snorkle with it! hmmm? Quote
porcy62 Posted April 17, 2008 Author Report Posted April 17, 2008 http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare.asp Wow, thanks! Though there are too may options for my tastes. Quote

You only need to select the options that YOU think are important - even if it's 1 or 2. At least it will narrow down your options. What price range are you looking at, anyway? Quote
